Board of Management Meeting – 9th May 2023

  • Pupils: We currently have 206 children on roll. The projected enrolment for our Junior Infant class in September 2023 has now increased by a further 3 pupils from 27 to 30. Twenty four pupils will be leaving in 6th class meaning our projected total school enrolment next year will be 209.
  • School Policies: Our Anti-Bullying Policy was updated and ratified and the accompanying checklist for annual review was completed
  • Free School Books: From September 2023, schoolbooks, workbooks and copybooks for children in all primary schools will be provided to every child free by their school. There is no charge to parents/guardians as schools will receive funding from the Government to cover these costs. Schools are responsible for the purchase and distribution of the books and copybooks.
  • First Holy Communion: Our First Holy Communion ceremony will take place on Saturday May 13th at 11am.
  • Swimming lessons continue at Dunmanway Pool are ongoing at present for 1st and 2nd class. Two weeks remain.
  • Fundraising Bazaar: A date has been scheduled to hold a fundraising Bazaar in aid of the Kevin Bell Repatriation Society.  (Friday 9th June during the school day)
  • Sciath na Scol Hurling and Camogie competitions have finished up for this year but we still have one remaining football game left v Ballyvourney which takes place on Friday 12th May.
  • Cork City Sports will take place in MTU Cork on Thursday June 1st and St. Mary’s Central School will have  a team of pupils participating.
  • Sean Hamilton GAA Tournament: Hamilton High School in Bandon have invited St. Mary’s Central School and other local schools to partake in a 5th class GAA blitz at Bandon GAA grounds on Friday 19th May.
  • Standardised Testing takes place on the weeks beginning 15th and 22nd May for all classes from 1st to 6th.
  • GAA Coaching: Tadg Sheehan, in conjunction with St. Mary’s will coordinate GAA coaching for a final block of 6 weeks starting on Thursday 11th May.
  • Junior Infant Induction Day: We will hold our Junior Infant Induction Day for next year’s pupils and parents on Tuesday June 6th from 2pm until 3pm.
  • School Tours: All classes will go on School tour on Wednesday June 7th to a multi activity School Tour at MTU Cork. 
  • Annual Parents’ Association Sports Day: This will take place on Wednesday June 14th during the school day on our school pitch.
  • 6th Class Graduation Ceremony: This will take place on Wednesday evening 21st June at 7.30pm in the school.
