History came alive on Tuesday morning for our 5th and 6th class pupils who were treated to a fantastic Pop-Up Museum in our school hall! Numerous historical artefacts many of which were used as everyday items or tools by our parents, grandparents and great grandparents were on display! The items were a small sample of what will be on offer at a much larger Pop-Up Museum in Castletown Hall on Sunday October 8th, an exciting event which has been organised by the Coppeen Archaeological, Historical and Cultural Society! We were very fortunate to have both Seamus Coakley and Colum Cronin on hand to expertly curate the museum. They presented items one by one, sparking curiosity among our students. And by touching and holding the artefacts they were able to reconnect with the past, imagining how their ancestors might have done so in a similar way decades or even centuries ago!
