Huge congratulations to all our pupils who participated in and had phenomenal success representing our school at the Cork City Sports today!
Boys races were held at the morning session and by early afternoon an impressive haul of trophies were already making their way back to Enniskeane! In the individual races James won gold, Adam Kenneally and Adam O’Driscoll won silver and Ben, Finn and Caden won bronze! As a gold medal winner, James then qualified to race in the county quarter final, again showing incredible speed but unfortunately was just outside the County Final qualification criteria which was the first two past the line! The winning didn’t just stop there! In the boys relay race the St. Mary’s Central School senior team of Adam, Daragh, Daniel and Caden finished in 2nd place securing silver for all four members of the team! Showing remarkable poise and power throughout each of the legs coupled with seamless baton exchanges, the boys powered home in a dramatic dash to the finish line to secure a brilliant 2nd place!

The girls races took place in the afternoon session and they managed to raise the bar even higher with further outstanding performances! In the individual races Michaela won gold, Jada, Lucy, Moya and Laoise won silver and Ella and Alannah won bronze! Like James, as a gold medal winner Michaela also qualified to race in the county quarter final and while she didn’t make the podium this time, she ran a strong and determined race giving a performance to be proud of!
Again, the winning didn’t stop there! The St. Mary’s Central School junior relay team of Moya, Lauren, Zoe and Michaela finished in 1st place securing gold for all four members of the team! In a thrilling race, they displayed athleticism, teamwork, determination and flawless baton exchanges to secure top spot on the podium! Next it was the turn of our senior relay team of Laoise, Ella, Ola and Lucy and they also delivered a thrilling performance. Showcasing teamwork, speed and determination from the very first baton handover, each runner gave it their all culminating with them crossing the finish line in a fantastic second place!
And finally, our school was awarded the coveted cup for the most wins in our division – a brilliant end to a day of determination, teamwork and sporting excellence!

Well done to each and every one of our pupils who participated today either in their individual or relay race. Being recognised as one of the fastest runners in our school of almost 200 pupils is already an incredible achievement regardless of results today and is something you should be very proud of! Well done to you all!
