Active School Flag (ASF) is a Department of Education and Skills initiative supported by Healthy Ireland, and part of the National Physical Activity Plan. The Active Flag initiative provides schools with a framework to guide, support and incentivise them to work towards achieving a physically educated and physically active school community. Traditionally we’ve always been a very active school but in 2019 St. Mary’s Central School was officially designated with Active School status and we still retain that title. Once awarded, ASF remains valid for a defined period, after which time schools are invited to re-engage with the process.
