This page is dedicated to acknowledging the incredible achievements of our past pupils here at St. Mary’s Central School. Whilst all of our pupils are valued and appreciated, this page aims to highlight and recognize those who have made a significant impact in one way or another at either national or international level.

Phil Healy (Athletics)

Ireland’s Fastest Woman; Phil was the holder of the 100m Irish Record until September 2023 and up until May 2021, she also held the Irish women’s 200m national record. In fact she was the first Irish woman in 40 years to hold both records at the same time! In total, the Irish International sprinter has won 14 national senior titles, between outdoors and indoors. In March 2021 Phil finished 4th at the 400m European Indoor Final and in the Summer of 2021 she competed at the Tokyo Olympic Games and made history by becoming the first Irish female athlete to compete in three athletic events at the one Games; the 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay! These incredible achievements have cemented her claim as the sprinting queen of Ireland!

Orla Cronin (Camogie)

Enniskeane and Cork Camogie star Orla is the holder of five All-Ireland Senior Camogie medals, 2014. 2015, 2017, 2018 & 2023. She was also named Player of the Match in the 2017 final. In 2020 her talents were honoured by the Camogie Association of Ireland with a prestigious Allstar Award, named at centre forward on the Allstar team. At club level, Orla won a Junior County title with Enniskeane in 2013 and she followed that up with an Intermediate County title in 2020. On a personal level she has won numerous individual awards including three West Cork Sports Star awards (2015, 2017, 2020) and a UCC Sports Star Award in 2018!
